Gambling - Bingo in Pubs - the latest Chapter

25 May
2017

We have over recent times reported on the ongoing application by Greene King to obtain a gambling operating licence to authorise higher stakes and prizes bingo in pubs.

We now have the result of the latest development, being the decision by the Court of Appeal.

The Court has ruled in favour of the Gambling Commission and against Greene King. This clearly is a setback for this initiative. The matter is now remitted back to the First Tier Tribunal to determine the appeal on its merits.

We will provide a link to the full decision in due course but are grateful to Cornerstone Chambers and Phillip Kolvin QC who acted for the Gambling Commission for the initial details of the decision.
